Golf Injuries

Golf is a low-impact sport, but golf injuries are still quite common. Most of the injuries are a result of muscle overuse or poor mechanics. Also, since a golf swing is a movement that involves the whole body, golf injuries can happen to almost any part of the body.

The lower back is one of the first and most common golf injuries. There are other symptoms as well, such as pain in the knees, shoulders, wrists, elbows, and ankles.

The Most Common Golf injuries

Here is a list of the most common injuries that happen to golfers:

  • Back pain is one of the most common health complaints among golfers, and every golfer has experienced back pain at least once in their life. The reason for that is that golfers spend about 4-5 hours in a bent posture that puts pressure on the spine. Moreover, the repetitive motion involved in golf swings also puts significant strain on the back. Many golfers wear a special back brace in order to support their lower back and prevent its injury.
  • Elbow tendonitis is the most common injury of the elbow. It causes inflammation and soreness on the inner and outer tendon of the elbow. Usually, this injury is caused by repetitive movements, like golf swings.
  • Knee pain. Golfers often put weight on their knees or do sudden twisting movements causing kneecap injuries and sprained ligaments. It is recommended that golfers wear special knee support or knee sleeves to reduce pressure on their knees during the game.
  • Wrist injuries. Tendinitis is the most common wrist golf injury that is usually caused by repetitive movement.

How Can a Chiropractor Help?

Golf injuries heal faster when treated with chiropractic care. An experienced chiropractor can use manual adjustments in order to work on the joints and surrounding tissues to reduce pain and dysfunction. Chiropractic care is also effective for relieving neuropathy pain.
